Here we are, less than 24 hours from now the polls will be closed. It's amazing how this election has driven the masses to get involved. I'm on the verge of being proud of my country. I really want to be proud of my country. My friend just put it in the perfect words, "I've been in a perpetual state of 'wtf' since 2000". Maybe tomorrow things will begin to become clear.
I wish I could trust the advance numbers. I wish I could trust the Vegas odds, but after 2004 I just can't allow myself to be so naive.
Barack Obama's Grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, passed away today. I don't think it escapes anyone, the profound significance of her death less than 24 hours before the day her beloved grandson may become the first black president of the United States. My faith allows me to truly believe she'll know, and she'll see. But I can't imagine the bittersweet tone this experience has taken for him.
So I say goodnight, and with a prayer for change, close my eyes on this awful chapter in our nation's history. Tomorrow America, please make me proud.
